Mary Ward Children's Home is a- non-profit making social welfare organization founded by the Mary Ward sisters in 1993. It
is a response to the rising numbers of orphaned children in our society. Its main aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere
for the orphaned, abandoned, neglected and abused children regardless of their race, nationality and religion by giving them
a home and a sound basis “for an independent life”. These children are placed in the home by the Department of Social Welfare.
The Home gives the children a sense of security and belonging, dignity, affection and educational superiority which are necessary
for the development of any child. It further ensures that all the basic needs of the child are met, for example; adequate
and decent shelter and clothing; balanced diet and motherly care. INTENDED GOALS
v To provide primary, secondary
and tertiary education. v To bring forth the knowledge and experience that is carried in the stories of our children. v To
empower the children to become self-reliant. v To expand and enrich the children’s own life narratives. v To find ways
to spread the news of each child’s success stories. v To help children to develop self-esteem and self-worth. v To ensure
children’s maximum participation and interaction in community activities. v To prepare children for re-integration in society. v To
assist children to become their preferred ways of being and help them celebrate their differences and gifts.
